Mr
Ashok Gehlot, why aren’t you sending the corrupt to prison?
It
has been now one year since Shri Ashok Gehlot assumed office as
Chief minister for the second term in the state. In this period
Shri Gehlot often declared that he would be sending the corrupt to
jail as their proper place is in the jail. Even in the presence of
the Union Rural Development Minister, CP Joshi, Gehlot said that
those who are found involved in corruption in the Mahatma Gandhi
Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Scheme would be dealt with a heavy hand.
They may be political people or the officials. He announced that
corruption will not at all be tolerated in Rajasthan. From the
repeated statements of Mr Gehlot it is evident that he would be
waging a war against the corrupt, but actions of the government do
not prove the same and only time will tell when his convictions
achieve reality. For the present, the corrupt are enjoying many
good postings and evidently getting the patronage of the corrupt
politicians. So far as image of Shri Gehlot is concerned there is
no spot or doubt on his integrity but the question is, whether he
would be able to send the corrupt to jail?
By mere repeated announcements and not taking any concrete action
against the corrupt, Shri Gehlot has raised doubts over his own
integrity. Mr Gehlot has to accept the challenge at the earliest.
Although the responsibility of nabbing the corrupt is of the
government, but Bhabhak is taking an imitative in bringing to
light many scandals in which several corrupt can be booked without
any delay. These corrupt people are so cruel and shameless that
they are eating away the genuine share of the poor farmers.
Scandal
of Rs1500 crore in connection with national
crop insurance scheme.

As
the state is reeling under famine, most of the farmers have been
adversely affected. It is only these small farmers who deserve to
be compensated and benefited under the national crop insurance
scheme. But instead, the big fish are trying to take advantage of
this scheme in collusion and through mis representations. The
advantages under the scheme are allegedly likely to be taken by
the influential people. People to be benefited do not include
genuine and small farmers and in many cases they are pseudo
farmers trying to be benefited.
Crop
insurance scheme is
going against the manifesto of the Congress
In
the election
manifesto Congress declared that it will get the small
farmers protected against crop failure through the crop insurance
scheme but in practice the small farmers do not seem to be getting
advantage of this scheme and the manifesto may not be implemented
in the true spirit of helping the farmers.
If
the manifesto is to be sincerely implemented, the farmers at the
grass root level have to be benefited and in that case the
insurance coverage has to be taken to the village and panchayat
level whereas this scheme is yet to percolate below the Tehsil
level. As per sources of Bhabhak the genuine needy and small
farmers may not get the benefit of the crop insurance scheme.
